and very american..

i can't wait to be in manila. so much of my "filipino-ness" has been missing in my life, i'm just ready to dive into this rich culture, maybe i'll come back with an accent! for those of you who don't know, it's only been a few years now that i've truly celebrated & embraced my filipino heritage. so far, it's been amazing living as filipino-american in the US, but now for nine months i get to live as a filipino-american in the philippines! honestly, i do not know what to expect or what this will look like, probably alot of mistakes & tons of grace! i know the lord will show me things as the two worlds living in me -the east & west, collide in this context. i hope to see things that the rest of the team will not see because he has made me both filipino and american (texan), can't help but wonder if he had this moment in mind when he was creating me... hmm.

this summer has been booked for me, busy but full of great things. most of you know that i've been plowing away at school. finally, graduation is near! other great news that came this summer is that i will be an ate, one of my four beautiful sisters is pregnant, she is due in november. i am sad that i will not be there to welcome my first neice, but i am confident that her other ates will give her buckets of kisses & snuggles for me. she's going to be amazing, i just know it!

i feel like i've been given a backstage pass, special access to see what it's like behind the glitz, the lights & to see what really happens behind the curtain. i often wonder how i got to be part of such an amazing adventure, this trip, us, the underground. i am truly blessed.
