manigong bagong taon! [happy new year]

It's fitting for a country that soaks up as much out of Christmas as possible to end the year with a loud bang! .. and that's exactly how we rang in the New Year. Seriously, these fireworks are different, they're so much louder! Everyone lined Sauyo Road, dancing, singing and smiling. I stood and watched taking in the moment. As I surveyed the celebration, I thought to myself, it’s New Year’s Eve and I’m in Manila! Wow! I think a lot of significance is put on where & what we're doing on New Year's Eve. It's almost mystical; before the ball drops you're given just a brief moment to scan the year before it's gone picking out monuments, and then you must reset your eyes so that the year approaching will find you optimistic & prepared! I take alot of joy from living in the moment. Thanks to Crystal I had a flashback to this last New Year’s eve where we spent it with a group of good friends, we counted down to 2006 under the stars & fireworks at the St. Pete Pier. New Year’s Eve night 2006, Crystal, Jennifer and I paused realizing that we would be welcoming the next New Year from the other side of the world. New Year's night 2007, I stood realizing I was in the midst of that word, declaration coming to pass, being fulfilled. It may not sound so significant to you, but for me, it was awesome.
I realize that this is exactly what your life becomes when you surrender it to the Lord, you begin to see each moment, day, and year as a fulfillment of his will. When I am connected to the Lord, I am asking for his guidance in every detail of my life, therefore, I am expecting to sense his presence, to hear his voice in all that I do.
